... because Flensburg entrepreneurs asked me if I wanted to help develop a positive image of our city. I was already involved in developing ideas to change Flensburg's image as an erotic city and points city (Federal Motor Transport Authority) into a positive image. And that as a Rhinelander who came to Flensburg in 1979 from Krefeld, my birthplace.
I love Flensburg, ...
... as my new home. I got to know Flensburg in 1966 and 1967 as a vacationer in the region. Even then I liked the history of the city, the many historic farms and the fjord. In 1979, I bought the Creditreform company, which had been founded by Flensburg merchants in 1885 (and Creditreform Neumünster in 1985). A courageous step after almost 20 years in Düsseldorf. At the beginning, I was eyed with reluctance, but then I was quickly accepted.
The people in and around Flensburg ...
... are straightforward, direct and initially reserved, waiting, but then relaxed, warm and open to new things. The combination of Flensburg's slight reserve, the Scandinavian culture and the Danish lifestyle give the city a special flair. Here it is - as the Dane says - hyggelig. Freely translated: live, let live, enjoy.
For me, Flensburg stands for ...
... a highly interesting, important economic area. With a healthy middle class, well commissioned craft enterprises, numerous European and worldwide successful market leaders in many industries and with secure jobs. And not to forget our two hospitals, whose highly qualified services I have been able to "enjoy" on several occasions. Workers are urgently sought after and in demand in all areas.

... fresh air, blue sky, white cumulus clouds - of course it rains sometimes. The trip with our Alexandra across the most beautiful fjord in the world, the many recreational opportunities on land and on water. The many sports clubs with successful athletes with national, German, European and world championship titles, also in the youth sector (!), the SG Flensburg-Handewitt. Two universities, Danish schools, regional theater, Low German stage. Living, relaxing, enjoying - and of course working in a healthy successful middle class.
